If Amazon Handmade wasn’t already Etsy’s nightmare before Christmas, it certainly is (Prime) now.
Launched in 2015, Amazon Handmade offers Amazon customers access to hundreds of thousands of handcrafted gifts from small businesses and local Artisans.
Amazon Prime Now
In time for the Christmas-rush, Amazon is now offering Prime Now delivery for Amazon Handmade products, meaning that customers in nine select US-cities can receive handmade products within a two-hour delivery frame, right up until Christmas Eve.
Good News for Amazon Handmade Sellers
This development is a further demonstration of Amazon’s commitment to small businesses, as well as its commitment to customer convenience; enabling you to provide that ‘Amazon service’ from your small business location.
Not So Great News For Etsy
Etsy sellers usually experience an increase in sales over the holiday season, with online shoppers looking for that personalised and unique gift for their loved one. Plus, with gift-wrapping options, free shipping and a gift-finding service all added to the online sales platform this year, big things were expected.
However, with Amazon’s new announcement, they may have just stolen Etsy’s thunder.
