Apple is multi-channel selling and you need to take note
Post by Expandly on 12th December 2018
Trillion dollar tech giant Apple has taken the plunge and started selling its products directly on Amazon – embracing the benefits of multi-channel selling.
Trillion dollar club members Amazon and Apple have entered into an exclusive agreement that sees Amazon carrying official Apple Inc. products immediately. Customers in the UK, US, Japan, India, France, Germany and Spain can now buy products directly from Apple using the Amazon marketplace.
Latest Apple products
The latest products will be available, including iPhones, iPads, other iDevices, from Apple and authorised resellers.
What this means for authorised Apple sellers
If you become an authorised Apple reseller, under the Apple-Amazon agreement, you can continue selling Apple products on Amazon and benefit from reduced competition.
What this means for un-authorised Apple sellers
If you’re not an authorised Apple reseller, you’ll be kindly asked to stop selling Apple on Amazon from 4th January. We recommend that you explore other online marketplaces (such as eBay) and set up your own website (using shopping carts such as Shopify, Magento or WooCommerce) to sell Apple products elsewhere. This is easily done, using Expandly to replicated your existing and previous Amazon listings into your other sales channels.
Multi-channel selling for the win
Apple is the latest in a string of big names championing multi-channel selling, with others including JD Sports, Calvin Klein and Nike. Selling on multiple sales channels, including Amazon and their own website, will enable Apple to benefit from:
– Brand protection
– Brand presentation
– Pricing and distribution control
– Increased exposure to customers
It also helps that Amazon draws nearly 50% of the eCommerce market and has taken strides in improving customer service and cracking down on counterfeit goods.
Multi-channel selling for all
Even better yet, multi-channel selling isn’t just reserved for big names such as Apple and Nike. Multi-channel management software makes selling on multiple sales channels easy and affordable. Stock, sell and ship products from across your channels, from one intuitive platform.
