Daylight saving time – sacrificing a little bit of sunrise for a whole later sunset. But whilst we don’t mind losing an hour’s sleep for those lazy summer evenings, losing an hour’s worth of work on your eCommerce business isn’t ideal. Here are our top tips to be tip top for DST.
1. Add New Listings
Spring is officially in the air meaning that now is the time to add your spring/summer items to your eCommerce store, ready for people to step into the sunshine. Spend this week updating Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Wish and your own website’s listings so that on Sunday, when you’re sans one hour, there’s a little less panic.
2. Order Management
Losing sleep can put people in a bad mood and what can bad moods lead to? Complaints. Give your customers nothing to complain about by logging into Amazon, eBay and Etsy to ensure that all of your orders are up-to-date and your customers appropriately notified.
3. Manage Your Inventory
With winter in your rear-view mirror, check that your stock inventory is accurate and identify any items that you need to shift quick. Make sure that anything you do place into sale, is appropriately ring-fenced between your different sales channel(s), to avoid overselling.
4. Print Shipping Labels, Invoices and Paperwork
Whilst everyone else may be able to sacrifice a little of what they normally do on a Sunday, if Sunday is your catch-up printing day then keep that alarm clock on standard time until after you have processed your shipping paperwork and labels.
5. Reporting
Reporting might be your usual thing to drop when the going gets tired but metrics play an important role in driving your sales and growing your business. It is important to run reports on what sold well this winter, as well as revisiting what sold well last summer so that you can plan your eCommerce business accordingly.
