Earlier this month CoinPayments tweet-nounced its integration with Shopify – allowing online sellers to accept a whole range of cryptocurrency. 

What is Cryptocurrency?

Put simply, cryptocurrency is digital money – designed to be more secure and anonymous than cold hard cash. You’ve probably heard of bitcoin – that was the first, created in 2009 – now there are more than 1,800.

What is CoinPayments?

CoinPayments is an integrated checkout that accepts cryptocurrency. Their announcement this month means that you can integrate their checkout into your Shopify store – enabling you to accept all the coins.

Why is this Good News?

Adoption of cryptocurrency is in its early stages but it is on the rise and the more payment options you accept, the more audience you can reach. Amazon and eBay do not currently accept cryptocurrency so integrating it into your Shopify store is a great way to divert some shoppers to your own website and to trial the waters yourself before the big online marketplaces do.
